Matthew Patterson is an interdisciplinary artist working in the fields of painting, drawing, mixed media, and photography. His recent work has been focused on creating surreal imagery that has strong connections with reality to create something that is neither one or the other. It is Matthew’s belief that at this crossroad of oddity and authenticity the imagery has the ability to engage the viewer by appearing extraordinary, but having qualities that place it in reality, reinforcing its impact with the audience by making the work into a real part of the viewer’s world.
